Crafting365: day 20; Turning a receiving blanket into a pair of pants

I did make a pair of pants for Esme out of that honey jar receiving blanket. They are soft and warm! I also had a small piece left over to make a small toy out of. Esme is making some progress trying to crawl as well, although she's quite loud in telling us how difficult it is!

Mark caught these beautiful pictures of Esme and Mouse (the manx calico) on the bed yesterday. Mouse was very gentle.

Beautiful pictures and btw that touch blanket is a great idea!!!

and kudos to making the pants from the receiving blanket.. those are things you want to keep reinventing *because* they are gifts not in spite of being gifts.. my favorite items are the blankets and things my mom made from baby clothes and receiving blankets.. so reinvent away!

The hardest part of the receiving blanket pants was that the blanket was square. The two pieces of the pants pattern didn't quite fit!

I had to cut them so that half of the pattern went sideways and then reassemble the pieces. Just remember to leave a little seam allowance where you'll be joining pieces back together and it works great!

What a wonderful idea, using a blanket for a pair of pants.

I love the idea of remaking the blankets, I have so many blankets that I just love the pattern on. You did an awesome job. These photos are so sweet.

Those trousers came out beautifully and it was so lovely that you had something left over to make Esme a toy.

Those photos are gorgeous.
