Lazy Kitties and knitting

Sally Sleeeps under Wool Blanket
Sally got cold this morning.

Sally Sleeps under Wool Blanket
It was only 69 degrees in the house
but she's a Southern Cat.

Willow was noticeably lazy, as well
trying to look comfortable on my grandfather's secretary desk.

Knitting project travels back and forth to work.

Knitting in progress - skein draped over arm.

I'm working on the grey shawl at home, since it is large and ungainly now. The small lace shawl can travel back and forth to work easily - and doesn't require any sizing or try-ons (like socks), just knit away.

My first Soctober project will be to finish my Vacation socks. I have half of the foot and toes to finish on the second sock.

Can't wait to see your finished socks!

Willow actually does look comfortable. Now that's a gift.

Sally is cute! Hezekiah burrowed underneath the covers last night and refused to get up this morning, until she realized it was warmer outside than in the house.

Socks! Socks! Socks!

Hi Rhelynn,
I ran across your blog looking for a knitting guild. Is there one? I'm in Dover. gootziecat

Gootziecat: The closest 'guild' I've found is the Stich n' Bitch in Nashville - and that is much too far for me. I think there is a crafts group in Jackson, TN too -- but they are mostly weavers, not knitters. They are both on this page with contacts. Also: see this page for Memphis, Chattanooga and Knoxville.

Wow - almost all those places are more than an hour's drive away from me - that counts as a road trip! How about you?

I'd love to find a friendly group to meet with - maybe start one at a regional library or coffee shop once a week. Do you know many knitters who would be willing?

Rhelynn,

No, I don't know any knitters or guilds close by. That's why I jumped at the opportunity to contact you. I did run into a lady last year at the Paris Landing Arts & Crafts Festival that lived in Paris, but after numerous attempts to contact her by phone (she gave me her number) I only got an answering machine.

I'm with you on the distances. It gets old and costly to have to drive an hour to get to any thing interesting. Perhaps we could drum up enough interest locally to start a group meeting, as you suggested. I certainly could learn from more experienced knitters.

If you want to contact me, you can at gootziecat1@yahoo.com.

Rhelynn,

One other question. You refer to CCHS, which I assume is Calloway County Humane Society. Are they a no kill shelter? gootziecat

gootziecat: The Carroll County Humane Society, in McKenzie, TN is the one I'm referring to. They are no-kill.

I'll have to stop by the Rhea library here in town and see if they wouldn't mind a knitter's meet-up once a week, or bi-weekly etc.. coming in and sitting down for a 'Knit n' Sit'

Any other places you could reccommend that might be easy to get to?

I tried knitting from a skein like that once... it was disastrous!!

Good Luck!! It is coming along nicely.

We have lazy cat syndrome around here as well.

Gotta go with the kitties on this one....I was freezing yesterday! I can always tell when it's cold as 5 out of 6 cats are cuddled up on our bed!
