Once Upon a Time (with kitten pictures!)

NEWS FLASH
We went to the Carroll County Humane Society today, and Tux has been adopted!
Tux's story

After recovering from his shots and surgery, he went into the cat play rooms on Monday, and was adopted on Wednesday. They have a wonderful facility there, the man really impressed me. They are taking good care of animals in need.

It was amazing, as some of the animals have slight problems, but they still take care of them as if they were their own. For example, there is a pair of longhair beautiful dogs who won't come out from under their bed unless dragged - apparently they lost the ability to trust due to some sort of abuse. They introduced us to a dog that had nearly starved to death in an enclosure, and was finally able to eat normally again, after many months of careful care.

There was also a cat who is so loving, but 'nips' the back of the hand to say hello - and doesn't understand why people don't like that, no matter how often they tell her otherwise. They also had two beautiful 6 yr old sibling cats whose owner had to give them up when she lost her job and house. (The man said that broke his heart when she came to drop them off -- she loved them so much she gave them to the only place that would keep them alive, no matter what)

And of course they have many other animals who simply were lost or abused, and have come there to find their forever home with a new person, one that promises to be good to them.

Anyway, it is a remarkable place and they are doing a lot for this region's stray animals. We do hope to be able to help them more later, if fortune allows.

Seeing all those cats and dogs waiting for a home makes me think about how lucky our little girls are - and how much they have brought to us. I hope good caring people will adopt these wonderful animals at the shelter (in McKenzie, TN), one of the beautiful chirpy friendly cats, Missy Pearl, had been there six months. She had been spayed and declawed when she was found - and no one ever came looking for her :o( If I could bring one more cat, right now, into my household (indoor, not outdoor), it would have been her! But, we are committed to giving our two girls, Willow and Sally, the best life they can have. If we move into a place that allows more than two cats in the future, maybe we could.

Kittens!
So, Once upon a time.. our girls were small.
These pictures are from 1 month to 6 months of age
It's funny, how little has changed in their attitudes since then ;o)

Most of these pictures were taken in the
office building when it was still under construction.

The Grey shawl is getting more border put onto it - and should be done in a day or so. I can't wait to get a picture of the whole thing! And, btw, it was 26° outside when I got up this morning! BRRR!

interesting fact: Why no power of ten, or power of two, is divisible by three. This was something we were arguing about at the office, and Google answered it for us ;o) Also: sixty is the smallest number divisible by all the numbers from one to six (from the same page).
