Happy Birthday to Mr. J

My DH J and I went out to the flea market today and he got an old coin he wanted from one of the dealers for his birthday.

I'll be joining the TRFLA (Tennessee River Fine Arts League) on Thursday night, and helping them hang a show on June 22nd.

My husband will be TWO whole years older than me for a little over two weeks ;o)

Yellowhite and the other remaining kitten went to the flea market too. (Not Radar - he is being kept). The man who took both kittens lost Yellowhite at the market before he could get to his car! I hope they found him - there wasn't any real easy escape out of there. I'll just have to hope that he was found :o( We will call the animal shelter tomorrow too, just to be sure no one dropped off a kitten found in that area. We want him to have a home - not be lost!

Finished kangaroo and other Sunday things

Finished Kangaroo and roo joey too ;o)
Mom is 6" tall.
I had to use the tweezers on the joey to turn her right-side out!

Sallymander

Watching the Air Conditioner

It is a source of great confusion for them
when it goes off and on repeatedly.

I should be working on my dragon.
The art meeting is tomorrow night.

Tea Swap Pal: I'm sorry to hear about the family difficulties :o( I'll have you in my thoughts that everything turns out alright! **big hugs if I knew who to give them to!**

Fingers please don't fail me now!

I have a lot of work to do tonight and tomorrow. I was sucked into garden work most of the day today - and my fingers are NOT nimble for sewing - even though they had better get that way FAST. Something about pulling weeds, digging rows and etc etc makes them stiff and me crabby. Oh well :o(

Anyway, I did get two little kittens done for the shop and I found this beautiful cat picture on Flickr. He has such red fur and green eyes! Wow!

If you haven't seen it - Knitiot Savant shows Ken doll after a few beers and an introduction to knitting needles. Oh My! Just wait until Barbie sees those pics ;o) He'll have a lot of explaining to do!

I'm going to need a big bag of 'felt kitten food!'

I see a Long Weekend coming Up

A Meeting of the Minds
Yellowhite, Radar and Willow
in the midst of a conversation in the office.

I called the art director today, and she said that as long as the toys were 'artistic and creative' and not 'crafty and kit-like,' they would be acceptable. Hmmm... that is a fine line in some cases... but my toys are anything but kit-like, I hope! She also suggested to bring some other things, like the ink drawings, that I do just in case. I forsee a long weekend - of scrambling to get my dragon done (he's not yet!) and seeing what else I would like to make/bring along.

A wire kangaroo made today

And again, after a spinal cord adjustment.

kangaroo skeleton pic from Univeristy of Edinburgh
I have hopes of sewing a felt skin on this wire frame over the weekend.
I think this is a big step towards 'sculpture' instead of 'toy.' His legs are funny, but I have some thin silver wire at home to help flesh him out before I begin to put the 'skin' on. I have a blue zebra/horse of the same type that is half way through getting his skin sewn on already.

Linky: Artemis the cat gets into some napkin shredding! This is one beautiful tuxedo cat!

Linky: Pictures tagged with 'branchingout' on Flickr. 135 pics as of today!

Linky: Double branching Out scarf at Flickr. I hope I can do this! Sally sat (and pulled on) my project while we were driving today - ensuing disaster and frogging. (Note, knitting lace in the car with cats is a no-go!) I'll try again tonight. By my calculations, you can cast on 44 stitches and just knit the middle pattern double with 3 stitches on each side. When you get to row 10, knit two stitches before repeating the pattern to make up for the difference. It was working fine until in the middle of the second repeat Sally switched window seats in the car and landed right on my project!

Is it Thursday already??

*sighs* - I have so many little creatures to get done!

A litter of three to go with the kangaroo
The red one has a bit of an atomic glow in the 90 degree sun...

I still need to finish the joey on the kangaroo - but these are so quick to stitch up, I did them first. We are putting molding and trim in windows at work - and putting excess computer stuff up on Ebay.

Knitting News: I'm pretty sure I'll be frogging the 'Branching Out' scarf and trying again in another colour. I haven't gotten around to that yet - not sure what other yarn I want to use. Still waiting on KTS! I'm so glad Suzie, the swap organizer, has said the next swap is in September! That gives me plenty of time to stock up on cool out-of-the-ordinary things! I ordered a pair of size 6 dpns from Playing Hooki on Etsy and they look wonderful! I'll give a better report once I've tried knitting with them tonight.

Art Show: I called the program director this morning and she gave me the date and time for the next meeting of the Tennessee River Fine Arts League - which is showing at the Arts 'Round the Square event. I hope I can beat down my inner introvert some more and call the director for the group tomorrow about it. Are softies 'art'? I feel they are. But then, I also have other art activities that might fit in better with the group - we'll see.

Take a look at this GREAT softie over at the Craft Itch blog! I really love what Jhoanna is making!
